Narrow-gauge railway
For over a hundred yea
rs, there have been in operation two scenic railway tracks with a gauge of mere 760 mm starting in Jindřichův Hradec. Their total length is 79 km. Both tracks, Jindřichův Hradec - Nová Bystřice and Jindřichův Hradec - Obrataň, still carry personal and freight trains on daily basis. It is needless to say that the local narrow-gauge railway system is a great technical monument and is one of the most sought-after sights in the region. Taking a steam ride on a train pulled by a 100-year-old machine will take you through magnificent and most scenic parts of the “Czech Canada” nature park. The ride on a historic train makes for an unforgettable trip and experience you should not miss. The narrow-gauge railway operator also offers the following services:
- regular public services and steam rides – diesel and steam trains
- ordered trains pulled by either a steam or diesel machine
- train rides specially arranged for weddings, private and corporate parties, and photo and video shooting sessions
- additional services during train rides (refreshments, picnics, entertainment, music, live performances depicting historic or recent events)
- accommodations in rural train stop buildings
- follow-up transport with a vintage, perfectly renovated bus
- print of period cardboard train tickets
